Meet “Thirty Characters is not Olot” (see what we did there?!)—a team of four fearless ladies in their 50s, united by one thing: absolutely no athletic experience whatsoever… but a lot of spirit, stubbornness, and possibly a few questionable life choices.

First, we’ve got one Scot, who conducts team support via chats with donkeys, cows, and anyone else she meets along the way. Then there are the two English ladies who can debate Yorkshire vs Tetley and whether milk should go in first for 24hours…. and finally, one Irishwoman, convinced her luck will hold out, forever supplying us with amazing cakes—and reminding us that it’s the craic that really counts.

It all began when we saw a guy on his bike collecting Trailwalker'24 markers and thought, “That looks fun. How difficult could a walk along the old railway line be?” Ten minutes later we'd decided there was no better way to mark Karen's 50th birthday than by signing up to walk 100km through Girona?! Easy, right?

So naturally, having directed every ounce of our energy into coming up with a team name that was no more than 30 characters...we did absolutely nothing for three months. Aside from complaining about sore feet after a very leisurely 10 km walk, where every five minutes someone asked, “Are we nearly there yet?” Reality came crashing in. We realized we weren’t quite as “game” as we thought. But after a few (dozen) moments of doubt, we dusted off our trainers, got serious, and hit the training trail.

Now, after months of grumbling, giggling, cake breaks, and the occasional “What on earth have we gotten ourselves into?” moment, we’re finally ready. We’ve trained, we’ve moaned, we’ve bonded, and we’ve learned it’s not about being athletes—it’s about being stubborn, slightly delusional, and finding joy in every step together.
